We rarely practice discern.

Why do academic textbooks cost so much? There goes a nice big chunk of our savings…

The main problem is that you can never sell them again =(. I have at least one and a half thousand dollars worth of them sitting on my bedroom floor (and I stopped buying them in second year!). I just can’t sell ‘em.

It’s been ages since I’ve listened to Spoon.

That’s so true… I remember in my first year at Architecture… just ONE of my books cost over $200. Not to mention the cost of all the other Architecture supplies (drawing stuff, etc.)

In the first year, my friend and I went 50/50 on our books, and then I never bought another textbook since.

And you can sell them, you just need to make sure that when you’re selling them you fuckin say WHAT subject they are for! At our uni heaps of books were sold by their title, but if you haven’t had your first class you’ve nfi what books you need and after your first class it’s generally too late to get any 2nd hand ones.

Yeah it really does stink, I agree. What I’ve done sometimes is go to the bookstore, get the ISBN number of all the books I need and see if I can find them on eBay for cheaper. Usually I can, and many times I’ve sold my books on eBay for more than I ended up paying for them. Books are still expensive, but sometimes you can cheat the system. ;]

why bother buying some books when you can get them free…make sure to check out if they are available online first for free of course

yeah! well, i’ve been fortunate currently, since i’m dual-enrolled and stuff. so i don’t have to pay for my textbooks. but i have to pay $50 for only one book. that’s not too bad, but i could spend that money on some awesome shows, like those Chucks in your other post! hehe. :)
